The Friends of Freedom Society, Inc.
- Ohio Underground Railroad Association is a grassroots,
all volunteer non-profit organization, whose sole purpose is to
research, identify, document and preserve Underground Railroad
sites throughout Ohio. If you are interested in Ohio's Underground
Railroad, please join us as a member!

Itinerary:
Travel to Ripley, Oh: Visit UGRR sites of John Parker House,
Rev. John Rankin House and other local sites. Proceed to Old Washington,
KY. Visit Harriet Beecher Stowe House Museum, Paxton Inn and short
walking tour.
Lunch:
DeShay Restaurant, Maysville, KY ** lunch on your own
Depart Time:
Depart Kentucky at 5:00 p.m.

Flushing
UGRR Museum Curator to Receive Prestigious Award
On June 6, 2008 Flushing Ohio resident and Curator of the Flushing
UGRR Museum, John Mattox was recognized for the prestigious award
he will receive from Ohio University next week. He will be receiving
an honorary Doctorate degree in public service for his dedication
and contributions to the community and his work in Underground
Railroad history. The ceremony will be held on June 14, 2008 at
Ohio University in Athens.

| Preservation |
Ohio's rich Underground Railroad History must be preserved. Join
with us in creating a list of endangered sites. Markers

The FOFS Ohio Underground Railroad Marker Program includes historic markers
for your community and flags for individual sites.
In cooperation with the Friends of Freedom Society, the Ohio Department
of Transportation has designated portions of U.S. Route 23 and State Route
4 as the River-To-Lake Freedom Trail.

Research - If you are interested in researching Underground Railroad history, this

Regions - Through our effective network of regional coordinators
and county agents, there are now numerous Underground Railroad
projects underway in every corner of the state.
